Poly Wire Filters

Wire panels or poly wire filters have a deign that consists of synthetic media bonded around a thin wire frame for support and easy installation. It's recommended replacing your Polywire / Wire Frame filter every 3 months to ensure maximum airflow.

Pleated Filters

A pleated filter is an air filter constructed of fully synthetic media that is folded to look like an accordion and housed in a cardboard frame. The folds – or pleats – give the filter more surface area, which allows it to capture more particles.

Heat Pump - Should I use a Pleasted Filter for my Heat Pump System?

Using an air filter with a MERV rating higher than what the manufacturer recommends can actually impair its performance.

The smaller pores in more highly rated air filters create resistance to air flow, and if the filter is used in an HVAC system that is not designed to handle this resistance, such as a Heat Pump system, it can lower the system's efficiency, decrease indoor air quality, and put strain on the system's fan.

If Pleated filters are used for a Heat pump, they should be replaced every 1 - 2 months, as clogged filters can cause damage to the Heat Pump system. Pleated filters get clogged much more quickly than Poly wire filters. Customers with pets or near construction zones should replace a Pleated filter every month.
